This room is for the practical stuff: wheelchairs and scooters, hoists and stairlifts, bathroom and kitchen adaptations, and all the small bits of kit that turn out to matter more than anyone expects. It's also for the process around getting them — assessments, waiting lists, funding, and the business of having your home looked at and discussed. Talk about anything here. What you're using, what you're weighing up, what turned out to be brilliant, and what turned out to be an expensive mistake. Honest reviews from people who actually live with the thing are worth more than any brochure, and the unglamorous items — the perching stool, the jar opener, the right cushion — are often the ones that change a day. Two things worth saying up front: Equipment gives things back. There's an idea that accepting kit means giving in, and most people who've been through it say the opposite: it's what let them keep doing what they wanted to do, and they wish they'd stopped holding out sooner. Nothing you use here is a milestone. It's a tool. There's no right time and no right amount. Some people are years into this and some are looking at their first item. Nobody's setup is the standard one, and nobody here is keeping score. One ask: what suits one person can be wrong for another, and the same condition affects people very differently. So share freely, but treat recommendations as a starting point for a conversation with your OT or physio rather than a shortcut past one.
